ANGLO-INDIAN SURVEY 2022- 2024

We have crossed yet another Census Year. 2021 is a year when the Government of India will be commissioning yet another censes of the population of this Country. All citizens are expected to be enumerated in this exercise at their place of residence. Sadly the census does not record COMMUNITY and thus there is no provision or field or code in the Censes form to record this which means that no community data is available to the government.

Sadly during the last census the community did not insist on the recording of this data and thus when the Government of India did not extend the nominations to parliament as is enshrined in the Constitution of India. On the premise that there were not many Anglo-Indians in India (as per the Census of 2011 which actually recorded only 296 Anglo-Indians). This is most definitely erroneously but sadly this erroneous data collected through a census form which did not have a field to record this option whatsoever was used to take a decision which. Thus the community was treated unjustly and the provisions of the constitution were removed on the basis of erroneous data used to discontinue the representation of the Community in Parliament and 12 State Legislative Assemblies. Sad but true.....

We request you to KINDLY SPEND A FEW MINUTES AND FILL IN THE FORM you will find if you click the link below. This will help us to collate accurate data which could be provided to the Government to strengthen our demand for JUSTICE and the reinstating of our nominations in Parliament and State Legislative Assemblies.

The Federation of Anglo-Indian Associations in India have been pursuing this at various levels and was part of a meeting with the Ministry of Minority Affairs who have requested for data of the community. Sadly over the past 70 odd years we enjoyed the constitutional privileges' but we were not able to collect or collate any data of the community which we could share with the Government. It was in 2011 that this issue was taken up in Parliament by the then MP Dr. Charles Dias and a request was made for a separate field to be allotted but the same was not acted upon by the Census Commission and as a result there was no option to record ourselves as Anglo-Indian thus how and where did the 296 number come from. We have again reached another census and we must make our voice heard. We must act we must come together and be counted. To make a change please spend a few minutes and fill in this form.

CAISS in Kolkata has agreed to collate this data nationally and thus this request to kindly be part of this initiative.

KINDLY FILL IN ONE FORM FOR EVERY INDIVIDUAL PERSON IN A FAMILY
